We were tasked to elevate an existing campaign, aiming to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease amongst the general public, nephrologists and wider healthcare professionals.

Our approach

The ERA Strong Kidneys campaign was originally established to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD). We were brought on board to elevate the campaign – expanding its reach, strengthening its identity and deepening engagement with both the public and healthcare professionals.

We began with a comprehensive rebrand, modernising the visual identity and refining the narrative to create a more cohesive, emotive and impactful platform aligned with the campaign’s mission. To anchor the 2025 activity, we developed a unifying sub-brand, “Protect Your Kidneys, Protect Your Future”, designed to resonate strongly with audiences and reinforce the preventative message.

We then delivered a range of multilingual educational assets tailored to each target group. For the public, this included patient case study videos, infographics and accessible advice guides, supported by the launch of dedicated Instagram and Facebook channels to build an engaged community.

For healthcare professionals, we developed a practical clinical information and conversation guide, equipping nephrologists and general practitioners with the tools to confidently discuss CKD risk, prevention and management with their patients. Specialist content was also created to amplify the campaign across ERA’s established social media channels.

Outcomes

Within the first year following the relaunch, the campaign reached over 6 million members of the public across Europe and beyond. Campaign materials were translated into 13 languages, significantly broadening accessibility and ensuring cultural relevance across multiple markets.

The newly launched social media channels rapidly built an engaged audience of more than 10,000 followers through a combination of organic and paid activity, creating a sustainable platform for ongoing CKD awareness and education.

We also supported ERA in designing and delivering a highly visible Strong Kidneys screening truck for public engagement and an interactive screening booth at the 62nd ERA Congress in Vienna. Over 400 individuals were screened during the meeting, receiving personalised insights into their CKD risk alongside practical advice to either initiate conversations with their healthcare providers or better support patients in clinical practice.

The result is a revitalised, scalable awareness platform that continues to drive prevention, early detection and meaningful dialogue around kidney health.
